Charlie,
I went to a private fishing pond a couple of weeks ago. The place is stocked with 14-20" rainbows. It gets lots of fishing pressure because it is so close to Tokyo. I decided to give it a shot. The fish there are like the Swift River. They have seen all kinds of flies and are really picky.
I must have tried 15 or 20 different flies to see if I could get their attention. I didn't get a single strike. Then I tried one of your "Charlie's Orange" flies. I think it must have been a 20 or 22. It was pretty small. That fly was like magic. My arm got tired catching fish.
As I was going home I thought, "Charlie saved the day even from half way across the world".
Thanks for all the advise and teaching me about fly fishing!

I've been flyfishing for about 10 years, but I only get out a few times a year and am mostly self taught. As such, my success rate has been pretty low over the years. That changed last weekend when Charlie coached me on nymphing pocket water (riffles, runs, and pools on a rocky substrate - water running at about 190 cfs) on the Connecticut River up in Pittsburg, NH. I caught more and bigger fish than most of my other outings put together. I easily had a 20-25 fish day with many fish over 12 inches. Many other fishermen we ran into had little or no luck. Charlie really knows what he is doing. Thanks for a great fishing trip Charlie!
