FLY OF THE MONTH
Each month during the fishing season, Charlie will provide a recipe for a fly that has proven effective in local waters that also coincides with the local hatches.
Need some tips on how to fish the flies highlighted on "Fly of the Month"? Pay a visit to the flyshop. Charlie will be happy to give you some pointers.

Joe's Hopper

Hook: Mustad 94831; size 6-12
Thread: Brown, 6/0-8/0
Tail: Scarlet hack fibers
Rib: Brown hackle, trimmed to reverse taper
Body: Light yellow polypro yarn, extend over tail
Wing: Turkey quill
Hackle: Brown and Grizzly, mixed

Light Cahill Dry Fly

Hook: Any standard dry fly hook will do.
Thread: 6/0 yellow
Wing: Woodduck flank feather
Tail: light ginger or creme hackle fibers
Body: Creme or light ginger Superfine Dry Fly Dubbing.
Hackle: light ginger or creme, rooster or saddle hackle.

Wing: Wood duck flank fibers, upright and divided

APRIL
Early Black Stonefly Nymph
Very effective fly in March and early April.
Hook: Mustad 9672; size 14-16
Thread: Black, 6/0
Weight: Medium to heavy, lead wire
Tail: Black goose biots
Adbomen: Black Hares Ear Plus
Rib: Larva lace or black vinyl ribbing
Wingcase: Dark turkey, coated with head cement
Thorax and legs: Black calf tail or Hares Ear Plus
